It is actually "Proverbs 31 Man and Woman"
The whole frenzy on the Proverbs 31 has subtly made the Male folk feel ropped off. Proverbs 31 im the Holy Bible, is often regarded as a biblical guide for women, outlining the qualities of a virtuous wife and mother.
However, a closer examination of the chapter reveals that the first nine verses were actually addressed to men, specifically King Lemuel.
A Royal Instruction
The opening verses of Proverbs 31 contain a royal instruction from King Lemuel's mother, advising him on how to live a wise and just life as a ruler/leader(which men typically are). She cautions him against the dangers of immorality and encourages him to speak up for those who cannot defend themselves.
Qualities of a Godly Man
In these initial verses, we see a description of the qualities that King Lemuel's mother desires for him:
Avoid immorality: She warns him against the seductive powers of immoral women (31:3). 8k
Speak up for the vulnerable: He is encouraged to speak up for those who cannot defend themselves, such as the poor and the oppressed (31:8-9).
Rule with justice: As a ruler, he is advised to rule with justice and to defend the rights of the afflicted (31:9).
A Call to Men
These verses serve as a reminder that Proverbs 31 is not solely addressed to women. The first nine verses provide valuable guidance for men, emphasizing the importance of living a life of integrity, justice, and compassion.
A Balanced Perspective
By recognizing the dual address of Proverbs 31, we can gain a more balanced perspective on the biblical ideals for both men and women. Rather than focusing solely on the qualities of a virtuous woman, we can also explore the characteristics that make a godly man.
